Chilean are those individuals who:
1. Were born in the territory of Chile, with the exception of the children of foreigners living in Chile at the service of their Governments, who may opt for the Chilean nationality.
2. Are the children of a Chilean parent, though born in a foreign territory.
4. Had obtained their honorary naturalisation.
No renunciation of the prior nationality shall be required in order to obtain the Chilean letter of naturalisation.
Every individual is entitled to nationality in the manner and under the conditions set forth herein. The law may create more favourable procedures for the naturalisation of stateless individuals.
Every individual may request that, besides the Chilean nationality, his/her/their belonging to any of the country’s native peoples be recorded in any official ID document.
